Smallholding

We believe it is important to know where our food comes from, that the essence of taste is in the time and that small is beautiful.

We raise rare breed Saddleback pigs the ancestors of the modern factory pigs. We allow them to mature slowly, as nature intended, and because they live outdoors they develop the muscle and fat needed to survive the outside. This gives them better fat content and a superb taste and texture.

Can you remember when you last tasted juicy, succulent mouth watering pork with crackling that really does crackle, pure meat sausages, or traditional oak smoked and dry cured bacon that doesn’t swim in your pan?

Have you ever thought about Escaping to the Country and keeping hens and a few pigs?
Now is your chance to ‘try before you buy’

Spend a weekend at Beech House and find out what it is really like to own a smallholding. We are not experts, but why not learn from our successes and failures, find out some of the things the experts don’t tell you – like what to do if the pigs eat your glasses!

Ask about our one day or weekend courses which we can tailor to suit your requirements. We can cover such topics as setting up a smallholding, pig keeping, poultry and sheep.
